Photo 1: This morning I walked by the Karlstejn Castle again this morning, this with a sunny sky. It was so much nicer... and I had dry socks!
Photo 2: A foot bridge over the Berounke River. From here the path would go 7 km up a mountain.
Photo 3: Foot path over the mountain...
Photo 4: More hills and mountains to come...
Photo 5: I am always amazed when I see how nature is able to press its way through asphalt. The past days I had been praying for the Czech Republic and the people who live here and thinking about what God's purposes might be. The grass sprout pushing its way through the pavement became a spiritual picture for me as to how to pray. There had been strong spiritual roots that are buried in the soul of this land:
1) The story of Saint Wenceslaus speaks of God's healing power at the time of the beginning of the Bohemian Kingdom. This is the root of the working of the Holy Spirit.
2) John Huss from Bohemia endeavored to translate and proclaim the word of God in the language of the people 100 years before Martin Luther did. He was declared to be a heritic and put to death by the clergical powers back then. This is the root of the truth of God's word.
3) The Moravians from Bohemia joined with the brethren from Zinsendorf to become a world changing missionary movement. This is the root of passion for the nations and missionary fervor.
The years under communistic and athiestic thinking combined with the current secular mindset has hardend the soul of the nation. As I walk, I pray for the light of truth and water of life to penetrate through this hardened surface, that the roots of the working of the Holy Spirit, the power of God's word and the fire in the heart's of God's people for those who live without the God-connection will be awakened and break through with new life. The roots are there. May they bring again the fruit of God's Kingdom in Bohemia. Let's pray for this.
