Larisa - Farsala

The word "mega" comes from tve Greek word "megas" which means big, long, wide, thick, high, tremendous. That pretty well describes today's hike. It was the last of the mega hikes over 40 kilometers, to be exact: 43,8 kilometers and 856 altitude meters. The temperatures reached the high eighties. About every two hours I found a shady spot for a break. I was mega tired and mega happy when I finished this one! I also reached a mega milestone: 2000 kilometers on Snail-Trail 2.

Photo 1: The day began early. At 7:45 am I had hiking shoes on and took my fist step. Iwanted to finish the hike before it got dark in the evening. On my way out of Larissa, these goats started following me. That was fun...

Photo 2: The first part of the wilderness walk today was on a dirt road. It was nice and quiet with no traffic.

Photo 3: The second half of the stretch was on the main road.

Photo 4: By sunset I made it to the town Farsala. It was dark after I bought some groceries for my next three meals.

Photo 5: There was no place though to spend the night. The only hotel in zhe area was to far away for me to walk. I saw that there was a church not very far away from the grocery store. When I got there, I was glad to see that the large gate ro the property was open. Then I noticed the glare of burning candles coming from the grave sites... I was at a cemetery. I put my tent up under the roof and next to a back wall to the church. I did rest in peace that night.
