Photo 1: My hosts in Strasbourg, Yves and Gabrielle Lutz, both scientists, love Jesus and have been very active in the Strasbourg Church for many years. Every day ob the Snail-Trail I need between 4000 and 5000 calories. They made sure I got them during my stay in Strasbourg!
Photo 2: "Willy and the Bridge"
Again Willy takes a look at a bridge, this time the one that will take us over to Germany from Strasbourg. When we cross this border, we will be in Germany for the rest of Snail-Trail 4.0.
Photo 3: I am standing on the border line between France and Germany on the "Bridge of the two Shores". It was good to be back in my "home" country once again.
Photo 4: Tomorrow I will be going over those purple mountains in the Black Forest...
Photo 5: Walking along the Rench River to Oberkirch and beyond...
Today was one of those days where I did not know where I would find a sleeping place at the end of it. There was no campground for tents in or near Oberkirch and all the B&B and hotel rooms were booked out because of a festival taking place this weekend. As I walked along the river, I said: "God has a place for me!" Wild camping is not permitted in Germany, so I was looking for a corner where I would not be so noticable and would not disturb anyone and where no one would bother me. My hope was to have my tent up somewhere by 7.00 pm. I did not find a spot along the river near Oberkirch. The path then went uphill into the woods... nothing level and very thick brush. I then came up to a house just left of the path. In that moment a young man came out a side door. With a prayer in my heart, I asked him if he might know of a place where I could put my tent up for the night. He was there home sitting for his parents who were on vacation. He showed me a corner behind the house that was protected from the weather, had grass and where the ground was level. He then opened a basement door where I had access to a toilet and could hang my damp clothes up to dry over night. It was 19.00 pm. I was so happy... and thankful. God had a place for me!
